Why Black Fax?

Black Fax is an important resource, especially in light of recent attacks and threats to Black history in classrooms. New laws across the country are limiting to what history is taught and whose voices are included in discussions. Black Fax helps to fill this gap by empowering young kids to explore the stories and contributions of Black individuals who have made significant advancements in STEM. By highlighting these achievements, Black Fax helps foster a more inclusive and accurate understanding of history, promoting equity and inspiring future generations to pursue careers in STEM.

Who's Behind Black Fax?

Hello! I'm Efe Elaiho. I'm a rising junior at Lakeside School in Seattle, Washington. I'm really passionate about programming, and I decided to make Black Fax for a couple reasons:

  • I didn't have a resource like Black Fax growing up, and I wanted to provide young kids with a platform to learn about the inspiring contributions of Black individuals in STEM fields
  • I believe it's important to promote diversity and representation in STEM, and Black Fax aims to showcase the remarkable achievements of Black scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and technologists
  • I wanted to create a space where Black children can see themselves reflected in the stories of successful individuals who look like them, which often isn't the case
